A police officer living in a disciplinary forces dormitory has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl while helping her return home.
The officer took the opportunity to behave inappropriately, but his actions were exposed due to the presence of CCTV cameras at the residence. After the news came to light, police confirmed the arrest of the officer and suspended him from duty. The case was heard at Sha Tin Magistrates' Courts this morning.
The defendant, Leung Kwai-Fung, a 34-year-old married man who claimed to be a police officer, was charged with one count of committing an indecent act on a child under 16 years of age. Currently, he does not need to enter a plea.
The prosecution requested a 12-week adjournment to conduct further investigations, including fingerprint comparisons, DNA testing, CCTV footage analysis and legal advice. The presiding judge ultimately postponed the case to December 18 for further hearing.
The defense applied for bail on behalf of the defendant, and the judge granted it. The judge granted the defendant a cash bail of HK$20,000, with his wife serving as surety for the same amount. The defendant is prohibited from contacting prosecution witnesses, entering premises involved in the crime, must reside at the reported address, report to the police station twice a week, and surrender travel documents preventing him from leaving the city.

The complaint stated that a 7-year-old girl was suspected of being sexually assaulted by a man at a unit on Tai Wo Hau Road, Kwai Chung at around 3:45 pm on the same day. After a thorough investigation, the police arrested a 34-year-old man surnamed Liang in Kwai Chung District the next day (September 21) on charges of indecent assault on children under the age of 16.
The case has been transferred to the New Territories South Regional Serious Crime Investigation Team. The arrested person is an off-duty police officer of the West Kowloon Police District and has been suspended from duty.
