6.2ft long crocodile discovered in Hong Kong village captured and relocated to Ocean Park

A 35kg crocodile which was discovered in Pat Heung, has been embraced by Ocean Park. The reptile is 1.9 metre long and was transported by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department to the park in Aberdeen.

An inhabitant of Lin Fa Tei in the New Territories called the police regarding the crocodile at around 1pm on Sunday, and the animal was captured by conservation officers at around 5:30pm. “The crocodile displays active behaviour and will be held temporarily at Ocean Park’s quarantine facility for appropriate care by its veterinary and animal teams who have extensive experience in alligator care,” Ocean Park said in a press release. “The Park urges the public not to illegally purchase or raise protected wild animals, such as crocodiles, for their own and other people’s safety as well as animal welfare considerations.” According to reports, there are no native crocodiles in Hong Kong, and for such animals to be imported without a permit is illegal.



香港村發現6.2尺長鱷魚 被捕搬遷至海洋公園


一隻在八鄉發現的重達35公斤的鱷魚,已獲海洋公園擁抱。這只爬行動物長1.9米,由漁農自然護理署運往香港仔公園。


週日下午約1時,新界蓮花地居民就這條鱷魚報警,該動物於下午5時30分左右被保育人員捕獲。


海洋公園在一份新聞稿中說:“這只鱷魚表現出活躍的行為,將暫時被關押在海洋公園的檢疫設施內,由在鱷魚護理方面擁有豐富經驗的獸醫和動物團隊進行適當的護理。” “公園呼籲公眾不要非法購買或飼養受保護的野生動物,例如鱷魚,以保護自己和他人的安全以及動物福利。”


據報導,香港沒有本地鱷魚,未經許可進口此類動物屬違法行為。
