A 56-year-old man dies after falling at 4 metres height while working

A 56-year-old man died after a fall from 4 metres height on Tuesday (10th of October, 2023) while installing a cable at the Yau Mai Tei construction site, operating under the Architectural Services Department.


The police reported that the incident happened at around 2 p.m.The man landed on the floor, suffered a head injury and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was pronounced dead, it was reported.



Edward Tse, the director of Architectural Services had expressed his great sadness on this unfortunate incident. He said that the contractor in charge of the site had been requested to provide appropriate assistance to the family of the deceased.


He said “The Architectural Services Department has immediately halted the related construction works and will fully assist the relevant departments in investigating the cause of the accident. In addition, the department will closely monitor all its contractors to ensure that they implement sufficient and appropriate safety measures when conducting work involving working at heights."


The Labour Department has reported to the site and there is an ongoing site investigation to find out the cause of the accident. The department has ordered the suspension of the work at the site until all comprehensive safety standards are satisfied.
