A man was hit by an aluminium sheet which is 3 metres in length while a lifting operation was carried out at the Hospital Authority construction site in Tung Chung and died of his injury on Friday, police said.
The force said that at around 1 p.m., this 58-year-old worker was found where he was lying motionless on the ground sustaining injuries on his head, shoulders and legs.
He was said to be unconscious while taken to the North Lantau Hospital by the paramedic. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
However, the project managing department of the site, the Architectural Services Department expressed its sympathy to the deceased family. The department said the work has been suspended until further notice while Labour Department said the investigations are ongoing on the site of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Development Bureau said the contractor in charge of the site has been stopped from bidding for subsequent government projects until the investigation is completed
