A slumped Hong Kong worker died undiscovered for 7 hours at a construction site in Tuen Mun

A 64-year-old Hong Kong worker passed away after he slumped while working at a construction site in Tuen Mun, he was dead unknown for seven hours before discovery, the report said.


The deceased was said to be working on a project to enlarge the West New Territories Landfill in Tuen Mun when the incident happened. He was hired by the subcontractor under the Environmental Protection Department to handle the site formation work, it was said.


According to the report, the man's wife contacted the site supervisor after her husband could not be seen at home after his duty.


The man was eventually discovered when a construction site personnel looked around and checked the CCTV footage at almost midnight where he collapsed after being unaware for 7 hours.


He was taken to the Tuen Mun Hospital where he was finally confirmed dead.


It was learnt from the police that the man was reportedly also to be a taxi driver and had a history of high blood pressure but the cause of his death was still being investigated.


The Department of Environmental Protection has expressed its condolences and said the contractor involved has been told to fully cooperate in the investigation.


Likewise, the Labour Department spokesperson has said a thorough investigation would be conducted to know the cause of the worker's death.

報道稱,一名64歲香港工人在屯門一建築地盤工作時摔倒身亡,七小時內無人知曉。


據稱,事件發生時,死者正在屯門進行擴建新界西堆填區的工程。 據稱,他受環保署下屬分包商委託,負責場地平整工作。


報道稱,該男子的妻子因丈夫下班後無法在家中而聯繫了現場主管。


接近午夜時分,一名建築工地工作人員四處查看並檢查了閉路電視錄像,最終發現了這名男子,他在昏迷了 7 個小時後倒地不起。


他被緊急送往屯門醫院,最後證實死亡。


警方從警方獲悉,該男子據稱也是一名計程車司機,有高血壓病史,但死因仍在調查中。


環保部已表示哀悼,並表示已告知涉事承包商全力配合調查。


同樣,勞工部發言人表示,將進行徹底調查,以了解該名工人的死因。
