An expertise in Hong Kong was conned into a HK$24.5 million cryptocurrency investment scam

The latest cryptocurrency investment scam of over HK$24.5 million involving a 44 years old Hong Kong architect woman who lives in Taipo was reported to police on Tuesday.


The sources disclosed that the woman was lured into a cryptocurrency investment by a scammer who posed as a male architect in Taiwan after making her a girlfriend through WhatsApp.

The source that familiar with the case said further that, the deception started last year in June after the woman was asked to set up an account on a fake investment website that consequently led to a huge transfer of HK$24.5 million into different given bank accounts in which 65 transactions were made.

However, the woman was keeping hope alive with almost double returns on her invested amounts that clearly showed on her account.


And according to the police, the woman later realized the foul play after she could not withdraw the profits but was asked to pay an administrative fee. She also finally found out that the architect's lover could not be contacted and the website was no more in operation.

週二向警方報案,涉及一名居住在大埔的 44 歲香港女建築師,涉及超過 2450 萬港元的最新加密貨幣投資騙局。

消息人士透露,這名女子在通過 WhatsApp 與她成為女朋友後,被一名冒充台灣男性建築師的騙子引誘進行加密貨幣投資。

知情人士進一步表示,該騙局始於去年6月,當時該女子被要求在一個虛假投資網站開設賬戶,結果導致2450萬港元巨額轉賬至香港不同銀行賬戶。 進行了 65 筆交易。

然而,這位女士仍然保持希望,她的投資金額幾乎翻了一番,這在她的賬戶上清楚地顯示出來。

而根據警方的說法,這名女子後來在無法提取利潤但被要求支付管理費後才意識到犯規。 她也終於發現,建築師的愛人聯繫不上了,網站也不能運行了
