On January 11, 2025, a fire was reported around 5:31 PM near Kai Kung Leng in Lam Tsuen, Pat Heung. Following the initial alert, numerous residents contacted authorities to report the situation. An active fire line, approximately 80 meters long, was confirmed, leading to the deployment of firefighters for emergency response.

By 6:27 PM, two hikers—a male and a female—reported they were struggling to escape the area due to smoke and strong winds. Rescue teams established communication with them and are currently en route to provide assistance.

Images shared on social media depict the blaze, showcasing intense flames and thick smoke filling the sky with a bright orange hue. The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a Red Fire Danger Warning, indicating an extremely high risk of fire incidents. The Observatory noted that the northeast monsoon during autumn and winter brings dry continental air, lowering humidity levels and increasing the chance of fires, especially under clear and sunny conditions. Even a small spark can quickly escalate into a significant fire.
