Good news: Hong Kong to stop the mask mandate everywhere except hospitals and elderly care homes


Hong Kong Chief Executive, John Lee Ka-Chiu yesterday announced at a media season, the lifting of the mask mandate which has been in effect since July 2020, the action that was taken earlier than he promised. This announcement came after Macau, a neighbouring country dropped the outdoor mask mandate on Monday. Hongkong people and visitors can go everywhere without a mask from Wednesday, 1st of March except some premises with administrative engagement such as hospitals and elderly care homes.


Lee said " I told the people of Hong Kong a couple of months ago that the lifting of the mask mandate was being actively monitored and would be stopped at a suitable time". He reiterated that the risk is under control and it is now the right time to stop the mask rule.

Health minister, Lo Cheung - man in his interview, said that the lifting of the mask mandate signifies an official end to all Covid-19 social distancing measures and Hong Kong is getting to a normal state.


香港行政長官李家超昨日在媒體季宣布,取消自2020年7月起生效的蒙面令,比他承諾的要早。 該公告是在鄰國澳門於週一取消戶外口罩授權之後發布的。 從3月1日(星期三)起,香港人和遊客可以不戴口罩去任何地方,除了一些有行政事務的場所,如醫院和養老院。

李說: “我在幾個月前告訴香港人,正在積極監測解除口罩令的情況,並會在適當的時候停止”。 他重申風險在可控範圍內,現在是停止戴口罩的正確時機。

衛生部長羅章文在接受采訪時說,取消戴口罩的規定標誌著所有 Covid-19 社會疏遠措施的正式結束,香港正在恢復正常狀態。
