HK Observatory indicates that a low pressure system is gradually developing into tropical cyclone

According to the latest forecast from the Hong Kong Observatory, a low-pressure area in the northwest Pacific is expected to gradually develop into a tropical cyclone. It is expected to move from Luzon to Taiwan from early to mid next week.

However, there are variables in its path and intensity. Both the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and the U.S. Global Forecast System (GFS) predict that a severe tropical storm will form in the middle of next week and affect Taiwan. ECMWF further predicts that the system will approach Hong Kong and make landfall in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province next week (October7).

Currently, a high-altitude anticyclone is bringing generally clear weather to southeastern China. At 8 p.m., the center of the tropical depression in the western North Pacific was located about 1,440 kilometers east of Manila. It is expected to move west-northwest at a speed of about 12 kilometers per hour, crossing the waters east of the Philippines.

Due to the presence of high-altitude anticyclones, fine weather is expected in South China in the next few days. However, the area will also be affected by showers and thunderstorms caused by high temperatures. Affected by the northeast monsoon, there will be strong winds along the coast of Guangdong early next week. In addition, another northern monsoon is expected to arrive in southern China in the middle and late next week.
