An assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) has been arrested on charges of indecently assaulting a female colleague, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The alleged incidents of assault took place in a campus office and reportedly occurred multiple times since January. The victim, a 28-year-old woman, filed a police report on March 15, accusing a male individual at the university of sexually assaulting her.
Two days after the report was filed, the suspect, identified as a 33-year-old man named Jiang, was apprehended by the authorities. It remains unclear whether Jiang has been suspended from his duties, as he has not returned to the university for at least two weeks.
Jiang has been released on bail pending further investigation and is required to report to the police in late April.
The University of Hong Kong has not issued an official statement regarding the incident at the time of this report.
