Police continue to increase their implementation efforts to tackle the jaywalkers in the city on Monday
The force reported that according to their records, 61 people died fatally in accidents related to traffic this year which happened to be a sharp increase.
It was said that police are presently stepping up their enforcement action against Jaywalking habits in the city as many of the accidents resulted from pedestrians' traffic lights disobedience, distraction by mobile phones or walking along car lanes.
Police finally urged everyone to act by traffic regulations. It was reiterated that the offenders are liable to fines of up to HK$2,000 or even face prosecution.
