Hong Kong authority warns people against the bogus video showing John Lee promoting an investment's big return

The Hong Kong government responded on Tuesday to the fake video circulating on social media where the Chief Executive of Hong Kong proving an investment plan with huge returns.

The members of the public are therefore being warned to desist from believing such videos and the government has declared it as a bogus attempt to defraud people.

Hong Kong authority said the video was a work of fiction created with fraudulent intent, and condemned the people responsible for their manipulation to rob the public using the Chief Executive's personality.

The spokesperson for the government said, “Members of the public should not be taken in by similar investment-related advertisements or promotional videos."

“They should not provide their personal information online, sign up for mobile applications or open any links.” He said further that everyone should be alert and always confirm the authenticity of any online promotions.

The spokesman said the scam incident had been referred to police for investigation.

香港當局表示，該影片純屬虛構，具有欺詐意圖，並譴責那些利用行政長官的人格操縱該影片搶劫公眾的人。

政府發言人表示： “公眾不應被類似的投資相關廣告或宣傳影片所蒙蔽。”

“他們不應該在網上提供個人資訊、註冊行動應用程式或打開任何連結。” 他進一步表示，每個人都應該保持警惕，並始終確認任何線上促銷活動的真實性。

發言人表示，詐騙事件已轉交警方調查。
