Hong Kong is preparing for a significant drop in temperatures, with forecasts predicting a low of around 13 degrees Celsius this morning. The cold will be especially felt in the New Territories, where temperatures may dip even lower, contributing to the overall chilly conditions across the region.

A dry northeast monsoon is currently affecting the weather in southern China, leading to generally fine and dry conditions. This afternoon, relative humidity levels in much of Hong Kong fell below 40%, creating a brisk atmosphere.
Looking ahead, the weather is expected to remain mainly fine and dry throughout the day, with maximum temperatures reaching about 17 degrees Celsius. Winds will start from the north to northeast and are expected to shift to moderate to fresh easterlies later in the day.
The forecast for the coming days suggests that these cool, dry conditions will continue into Monday and New Year’s Eve, with mornings remaining cool and daytime temperatures gradually warming. However, cloud cover is anticipated to increase on New Year’s Day and Thursday. As the northeast monsoon weakens early next week, daytime temperatures across Guangdong are likely to rise slightly, although another surge of the northeast monsoon may bring cooler weather back to the region later in the week.
