Ying Ying and her mate, Le Le, were gifted to Hong Kong by the central government in 2007 and have become beloved figures in the city. Their successful natural mating in March and the subsequent birth of the twins are seen as a triumph in wildlife conservation efforts, particularly given the challenges associated with breeding pandas.

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee expressed profound gratitude towards the central government for the gift and highlighted the importance of the strong relationship between Hong Kong and mainland China. "The birth of these panda twins not only brings joy; it also symbolizes the robust support and connection between the mainland and our city," Lee stated.

The health and well-being of the newborn pandas during these initial weeks are of utmost importance. A dedicated team from Ocean Park and experts from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda are providing round-the-clock care to ensure the cubs' survival and healthy development. This success is particularly noteworthy as Ying Ying is now the oldest recorded giant panda to give birth to twins, a rare conservation achievement.

The birth of the panda twins is a testament to the ongoing efforts of Hong Kong and mainland China in wildlife conservation, and it is sure to bring immense joy and pride to the people of Hong Kong.
