As a part of the Hong Kong government scheme launched in June to import 20,000 workers into the city.
Hong Kong’s construction sector has been requested to bring 3,910 workers to the city.
The scheme allows the construction sector to import up to 12,000 workers which takes almost a third of the total quota. The Aviation, 6300 workers and Transport sector, 1700 workers.
The requests contained in 11 applications filed to the Development Bureau hours before the deadline on Wednesday midnight.
“The Development Bureau will process the applications sequentially, and the vetting process is expected to be complete by the end of September." “The first batch of imported labour could arrive by the fourth quarter of this year," it was said.
Applications for the first round started on July 17.
