A 58-year-old man threw his seven-year-old son from the 6th-floor rooftop of a Hong Kong shopping mall while carrying him on his shoulder and then leapt after him in an attempted murder-suicide on Monday evening, according to the report.
The report from the source close to the incident said that the CCTV footage revealed a moment at around 10 pm when the boy was being carried on his father’s shoulders on the top floor of the 6th-storey building at Kowloon City Plaza’s car park on Carpenter Road.
“Shortly after, the father [carrying his son on his shoulders] walked to the edge of the mall’s rooftop and then threw the boy off the building before jumping off from the rooftop,” the insider said via SCMP reports.
At around 9 pm, the security guard of the shopping building saw a man, and his son lying motionlessly with serious injuries and called the emergency services.
The man known as Man Kam-shui who was said to be a Taxi driver was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital where he was certified dead at 10.17 pm while the boy, a Primary two pupil rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and said to be in critical condition by the authority.
