According to the latest forecast, the Observatory predicts a notable decrease of 9°C in urban areas overnight on Friday, potentially resulting in a late cold snap. On Saturday, the lowest temperature is expected to reach a mere 14°C. Some areas in the New Territories may even experience temperatures as low as 10 degrees in the morning. It is anticipated that temperatures will gradually rise again early next week.
Currently, a fresh northeast monsoon is affecting the Guangdong coast, bringing cooler weather to the region. Tonight and tomorrow, Hong Kong can expect mainly cloudy skies with a possibility of one or two light rain patches in the morning and at night. The minimum temperature will be around 15 degrees in urban areas, slightly lower in the New Territories. Bright periods are expected during the day, with a maximum temperature of approximately 20 degrees. Moderate to fresh northeasterly winds will prevail.
Looking ahead, Wednesday is expected to remain windy and relatively cool, while Thursday will bring warmer daytime temperatures. However, towards the weekend, a significant temperature drop is forecasted, with Saturday morning seeing readings of 14°C or below. In the coming days, a fresh to strong northeast monsoon will bring cooler weather along the Guangdong coast. As the monsoon weakens, temperatures will gradually rise on Thursday. Subsequently, a cold front is predicted to pass through Guangdong, leading to a substantial temperature decrease in the region. Early next week, a southerly airstream will bring showers to southern China.
