Hong Kong Observatory forecasted the first typhoon signal, T1 expected on Saturday morning

The Observatory on Friday has issued the weather forecast for the first typhoon of the year with T1 warning expect to be raised on Saturday morning.The signal will be coupled with the rise in the temperature to 36°C from the effects of an approaching tropical depression over the weekend.


The signal pattern was reported to be currently located within 800km (497 miles) of the city and was expected to gradually intensify, bringing strong winds from Sunday to Tuesday.


The forecaster said "Depending on the movement and development of the tropical depression, the Observatory will consider issuing the Standby Signal No 1 on Saturday morning,


It was reported further that there could be potential of higher alerts depended on the “proximity of the tropical cyclone” to the Pearl River Delta as well as its intensity.


"Squally showers and thunderstorms are anticipated next week" it was added.

天文台週五發布今年首個颱風的天氣預報,預計週六早上將發出T1警告。該信號將伴隨著熱帶低氣壓的影響而導致氣溫上升至36°C 整個週末。

據報導,信號模式目前位於距城市 800 公里(497 英里)範圍內,預計信號將逐漸增強,週日至週二將帶來強風。

預報員表示,視乎熱帶低氣壓的移動及發展情況,天文台會考慮於星期六早上發出一號待命信號,

據進一步報導,根據“熱帶氣旋”與珠江三角洲的距離及其強度,可能會出現更高級別的警報。

補充說:“預計下週會有狂風驟雨和雷暴。”
