The second typhoon in less than a week - a tropical cyclone Haikui which will be moving within 800km (497 miles) of the city has prompted the Hong Kong Observatory to prepare to issue a No.1 typhoon warning signal on Monday morning.
Haikui is the Chinese name for sea anemones, a flowerlike type of marine animal.
Super typhoon Saola departed Hong Kong City recently after two days of gradually raised typhoon signals till No.10 with damage and flood effects. It was anticipated to move across the southern part of Taiwan on Sunday and towards the vicinity of the eastern coast of Guangdong province to
southern Fujian.

However, the Haikui’s movement remains uncertain,” the Observatory on Sunday said.
Economists said that the disruptions Typhoon Saola caused to the business in two days cost Hong Kong between HK$3.3 billion and HK$12 billion (US$1.53 billion) losses.
The forecaster said that Haikui had a maximum wind speed of 165km/h (102mph) on Sunday and it would enter the Taiwan Strait on Monday. In comparison, Saola clocked wind speeds of more than 200km/h when it struck Hong Kong on Friday.
The Observatory said Hong Kong’s weather would be very hot due to the influence of the outer subsiding air of Haikui. The temperatures in Hong Kong were expected to hit 34°C on Monday and the city would see showers during the middle of the week, while offshore winds would pick up.
