Hong Kong Observatory in the latest report said that the intense rainbands related to Koinu are affecting the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary.
HKO said that more than 50 millimetres of rainfall were
locally recorded over many places since midnight, and rainfall even exceeded 100 millimetres over the eastern part of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon East and Tseung Kwan O.
Hong Kong Observatory added the radar indicates that Koinu extends 200km to the east of its centre. The rain bands will persistently affect the vicinity of Pearl River Estuary this morning( 9th October, 2023), and bring squalls to the region. Winds may occasionally be up to Gale force.
The Gale or storm Signal 8 will remain in force at least until 11 a.m. this morning.
