Three robbers who are on the run after bumping into a private vehicle in Tin Shui Wai and snatching almost HK$200,000 on Tuesday early morning are being hunted by the Hong Kong police.

The report said a 29-year-old man was bumped by a Mercedes Benz which caused his car to sway away at around 5:30 am while driving a seven-seater along Ha Tsuen Road on getting to the Kong Sham Western Highway.

The driver stopped and leapt from his vehicle after being threatened by a pointing iron stick. The robbers eventually left with HK$200,000 cash in a box, the report said.

The victim called the police at the scene after the robbers left to report the incident. He was uninjured, the report said.

It was learnt that the victim is the owner of a carwash and said the HK$200,000 was collected from his partner before the incident.

Detectives from Yuen Long district’s anti-triad squad are handling the case. Police said no arrests had been made as of 4.30 pm.
