Two local men have been arrested by Hong Kong police on Wednesday morning in La Chi Kok. The heroin that worth HK$77 million in street value was seized in a clampdown on a trio-drug trafficking gang.
According to the force on Thursday, an ambush operation was carried out by the narcotics bureau officers at Mei Foo Sun Chuen, which is a private housing estate in La Chi Kok, based on earlier information. It was further described that a man was intercepted by the officers while leaving the building after a car that was carrying two of them dropped him off. In his bag, 19 slabs of suspected heroin that weighed 6kg were found and he was consequently arrested with other man on suspicion of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
According to the force spokesperson, the two suspects were later led to another flat on Sham Mong Road, Cheung Sha Wan and a further 246 slabs of suspected 77.5kg-weighed heroin were found.
Both suspects, aged 40 and 41 are still being held for ongoing questioning.
According to the Dangerous Drug Ordinance in Hong Kong - Chapter 134, the maximum penalty upon conviction for any person who traffics in a dangerous drug is a fine of HK$ 5 million and life imprisonment.

週三上午,兩名本地男子在臘腸角被香港警方逮捕。 市值 7,700 萬港元的海洛因在打擊三人販毒團伙中被查獲。
警方周四表示,根據較早前的消息,緝毒局人員在拉枝角的私人屋苑美孚新村進行了一次伏擊行動。 據進一步描述,一名男子在一輛載有兩人的汽車將他放下後離開大樓時被警察攔截。 在他的包內搜出19塊重達6公斤的疑似海洛因,隨後他與另一名男子因涉嫌走私毒品被捕。
警方發言人表示,兩名疑犯其後被帶往長沙灣深旺道另一單位,並蒐出246塊懷疑重達77.5公斤的海洛因。
這兩名年齡分別為 40 歲和 41 歲的嫌疑人仍被拘留接受訊問。
根據香港《危險藥物條例》第 134 章,販運危險藥物一經定罪,最高刑罰為罰款 500 萬港元及終身監禁
