Hong Kong police uncover drugs den, arrest a man and seize HK$1.5million worth of crack cocaine

Hong Kong police acting on intelligence have discovered a drug den in a New Territories village where a 23-year-old man was arrested after seizing HK$1.5 million worth of crack cocaine.
The officers raided the house at Lam Tsuen off Lam Kam Road in Tai Po on Sunday afternoon.
Police said that 1.1kg of suspected cocaine uncovered had an estimated street value of HK$1.5 million along with suspected drug manufacturing-related equipment.
Police investigation believes the premise was being used for the production and storage of illegal drugs.
The force said, “Police have discovered that drug traffickers have set up drug dens in remote villages in an attempt to increase the difficulty of police investigation."
The man is presently in detention on suspicion of drug trafficking and the manufacture of a dangerous drug. The crimes are punishable by up to life in prison and a HK$5 million fine.
"The investigation was in progress and more arrests could still be made", the force said.
