The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a forecast indicating an active typhoon season ahead, with projections of five to eight tropical cyclones expected to approach within 500 kilometers of the city. This outlook, presented during a press conference on Tuesday, suggests that the number of storms will be slightly above the average.

Dr. Chan Pak-wai, the director of the Observatory, noted that the typhoon season could commence as early as June and extend through October. The anticipated storm activity is expected to be at normal to slightly elevated levels, emphasizing the importance for residents to remain vigilant in the coming months.
