Hong Kong’s first anti-terrorism experience center opens to promote public safety

Hong Kong - To raise public awareness of counter-terrorism measures and enhance community safety awareness, the Inter-departmental Counter-Terrorism Unit (ICTU) today unveiled the Safe Community Center (The Hub), marking the opening of the Safe Community Centre. Hong Kong’s first anti-terrorism experience center. The center offers interactive experiences and activities designed to engage visitors and spread the message of safe communities.

The opening ceremony invited many well-known figures to attend, including Mr. Chow Ming, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Ms. Priscilla To, Deputy Secretary-General for Security, as well as representatives from Hong Kong Customs, Correctional Services Department , Fire Services Department, Government Flying Service, Hong Kong The Police Force and the Immigration Department jointly announced the official launch of The Hub.
The center covers approximately 8,000 square feet and provides dedicated exhibition and interactive experience areas for each of ICTU’s member departments. Visitors can enjoy a variety of interactive experiences using cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), motion detection, interactive holograms and flight simulations. These immersive experiences enable participants to learn how to mitigate risks associated with terrorist attacks and keep individuals and communities safe. In addition, strategically placed photo spots enhance visitor engagement, ensuring a lively and engaging experience while conveying key CT and safe community messages.
The facility also includes a small theater where special programming will be arranged to educate participants on how to apply advice such as "Run, Hide, Report" and "Spot and Report" during a terrorist attack or violent incident.
The ICTU's primary goal is to deepen public understanding of interagency counterterrorism efforts and emergency response techniques through these engagement activities. By increasing public counter-terrorism awareness and emergency response capabilities, the ICTU aims to unite the entire community in the fight against terrorism.
The Hub is conveniently located on the 25th floor of the Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai and is expected to be operational in early November. Schools and community groups/organizations are encouraged to make reservations, and individuals can also make reservations for designated time slots. Admission to the center is free. 香港首个反恐体验中心揭幕 促进公共安全
