Hong Kong's population has increased from the previous year according to the statistics released by the Census and Statistics Department today, 20th of February.
The report said that the provisional estimate of the Hong Kong population was 7,503,100 at the end of 2023 which is now representing an increase of 30,500 or 0.4% from 7,472,600 at the end of 2022.
It was explained that the jump in the population between the end of the year 2022 and the end of the year 2023 was mostly attributed to a net inflow of 51,700 Hong Kong residents recorded within a year.
Moreover, there was an inflow of 40, 800 One-way Permit holders and a net inflow of 10,800 other Hong Kong residents, the report said.
The report added that over the 1 year, 33,200 new babies were born while 54,400 people passed away in the city.
