Hong Kong authority has recently sought help from mainland China to curb the sudden illegal arrival of people from across the city's border.

The move came up after the illegal entry of over 100 immigrants within nine days from South Asia through the land and sea borders. The city will step up patrols on land and seas, the report has said.

It was learned that these people might probably take the chance of recent relaxation by mainland authorities for issuing visas to visitors from South Asian countries. It was added that this opportunity facilitates people to travel easily to mainland China coastal areas in Guangdong where they can be smuggled to the city by sea using boat.

According to the authority, more than 100 people from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan were arrested in seven incidents between October 22 and October 31.

There were 848 illegal immigrants intercepted in the first nine months of the year, including from top-of-the-list Vietnam with 266, 244 from the mainland, 183 from Bangladesh, and 112 from Pakistan, the report said.
