Hong Kong transport sector is finding about 1600 drivers abroad to alleviate the shortage problems

The Transport and Logistics Bureau announced on Wednesday that the scheme to import workers to the city in other to alleviate the problem of drivers shortage received 118 applications to bring in up to 1,600 minibus and coach drivers

As part of Hong Kong government programs to import 20,000 workers and tackle the shortage of manpower in the construction, aviation and transport industries.

In this scheme, transport operators are required to recruit up to 900 minibus drivers and 800 coach drivers anticipating to bring the workers from mainland China.

Representatives from the Transport and Logistics Bureau, the Transport Department and the Labour Department will consider the applications and approval decisions will be made by the next month's ending.

The bureau stressed that the authorities will make a provision for additional driving test time intervals for the recruits within the scheme to prevent conflict with the existing local driving tests.

作為香港政府引進 20,000 名工人並解決建築、航空和運輸行業人力短缺問題的計劃的一部分。

在該計劃中，運輸運營商需要招聘最多900名小巴司機和800名長途汽車司機，預計從中國大陸引進工人。

運輸及物流局、運輸署及勞工處的代表將會考慮申請，並會在下個月月底前作出批准決定。

局方強調，當局會在計劃內為新入職人員預留額外的駕駛考試時間間隔，以免與本地現有的駕駛考試發生衝突。
