A 58-year-old Hong Kong woman and her son who was mentally disabled were discovered dead in a murder-suicide suspected case at a Kwai Fong residence on Monday.
The woman had been separated from her husband and taken care of her mentally retarded son alone for over 20 years, the report said.
The report from SCMP through a source familiar with the case said the woman was thought to have burned charcoal to commit suicide with her disabled 32-year-old son on Mother’s Day.
Emergency services were called by the deassed's elder sister who found both of her younger sister and nephew lifeless in their flat with the burnt charcoal on the floor when she visited them at 11:56 am on Monday.
Unfortunately, both of them were confirmed dead at the scene with a suicide note found by the police officers in their flat, police said.
The report said that the woman was an employee of Citybus who worked as a regulator in a bus terminal and lived with her son, who attended a sheltered workshop on weekdays.
The woman recently felt unwell because of a heart problem, the report added.
It was said that an autopsy would be carried out to find out the cause of the deaths while the detectives from the Kwai Tsing district crime squad were investigating the case.

警方表示，不幸的是，警方在他們的公寓裡發現了一封遺書，證實兩人當場死亡。
報道稱，該名女子是城巴員工，在巴士總站擔任監管員，與兒子同住，兒子平日到庇護工場參加活動。
報導補充說，這名女子最近因心臟問題感到不適。
