A ton of people assembled today at Hong Kong's famous Victoria Harbour to see the new narrow-body
airliner developed by Chinese aircraft
manufacturer Comac flying over the city on Saturday morning.
People present were noticeably having happy and significant moments seeing the Chinese local aircraft manufacturer landmark despite the early cloudy weather.
It was reported that the C919 plane took off around 10.30 am this morning from Hong Kong International Airport and made two moves over the harbour for the rapt crowd who gathered at the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade to witness.
Young and old were standing with cameras eagerly to take lovely shots of the momentary as the aircraft flew above the city.
The Comac C919 is a narrow-body airliner developed by Chinese aircraft manufacturer Comac. The development program was launched in 2008. Production began in December 2011, with the first prototype rolled out on 2 November 2015 and having its maiden flight on 5 May 2017. On 29 September 2022, the C919 received its CAAC-type certificate.
The first production airframe was delivered to China Eastern Airlines on 9 December 2022 and was put into commercial passenger service on 28 May 2023.

中國商飛 C919 是由中國飛機製造商中國商飛開發的窄體客機。 該開發計畫於2008 年啟動，生產於2011 年12 月開始，首架樣機於2015 年11 月2 日下線，並於2017 年5 月5 日首飛。2022 年9 月29 日，C919 獲得中國民航局型號合格證。
第一架量產機身於 2022 年 12 月 9 日交付給中國東方航空公司，並於 2023 年 5 月 28 日投入商業客運服務。
