Hong Kong police apprehended a 30-year-old male while patrolling on Wa Fung Street, Hung Hom at around 6 pm, on Thursday. The officers saw him acting suspiciously as he attempted to take to his heel after dropping a bag on the ground when he sighted them. He was intercepted by the police and after a search, about 509 g of suspected cocaine valued at almost HK$549,000 was found in his bag.
He was thereafter arrested for trafficking in a dangerous drug and was detained.
The case is being handled by the Kowloon City district crime investigation team. It was reiterated by the force that trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence and offenders upon conviction could receive a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and HK$5 million fine.
