The order to suspend the visa-free entry policy to Indonesia for 159 countries has been announced by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Indonesia, with the exemption of the passport holders from the Association of South East Asian Nations(ASEAN).

It was clarified by the Indonesian government that the reason for the suspension is to tackle the public order disruptions and the potential transmission of diseases from countries that aren’t certified as disease-free by the World Health Organization (WHO).

It was reported that those 159 countries have to apply for a visa to visit the country once their documents are approved.

The 10 ASEAN countries that included Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam can only stay in Indonesia for 30 days with their valid passport and confirmed return tickets report. To extend their stay, these visitors can choose from the types of immigration visas that Indonesia offers, such as e-VOA (Electronic Visa on Arrival), Visit Visa or Limited Stay Visa, according to Bali Times.
