A 25-year-old Indonesian domestic helper has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse following the emergence of disturbing video footage. The video allegedly shows her mistreating a five-year-old boy with autism and intellectual disabilities, lasting nearly four minutes. In the footage, the helper is seen pinching the child's face, tugging at his fingers, shaking him, and pushing against his teeth, prompting the boy to cry out in distress.
The incident occurred at The Belcher’s in Shek Tong Tsui. In mid-June, upon returning from Shenzhen, the boy’s parents noticed swelling on his lips and redness on his chest. Concerned, they reviewed the CCTV footage from their home, which revealed the helper's alleged abusive actions. They took their son to Queen Mary Hospital for medical attention and reported the incident to authorities.
The police received a report on June 16 from the boy’s mother, who suspected mistreatment. Following an investigation, officers from the Hong Kong Island region arrested the domestic helper, who now faces charges of child abuse and neglect. The case is still under investigation.
