Kwun Tong Line to Suspend Train Service at 4 MTR Stations on Sunday for Asset Upgrade

On Sunday, July 28th, the MTR Corporation will be suspending train service on the Kwun Tong Line at four stations - Prince Edward, Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei, and Ho Man Tin. This service suspension is part of the railway company's large-scale infrastructure asset renewal project in the tunnels.

MTR Corp expects full service to resume the following day, on Monday. Those likely to be affected, including foreign domestic helpers on their day off, can use alternative railway routes which can be searched for on the MTR Mobile app or website. MTR will also be deploying over 1,000 staff and contractor personnel throughout the day to assist passengers.

During the service suspension, the Kwun Tong Line will continue to operate between Tiu Keng Leng and Prince Edward, as well as between Ho Man Tin and Whampoa. Passengers can still access Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei stations via the Tsuen Wan Line, while Ho Man Tun station will be accessible via the Tuen Ma Line. Prince Edward Station will be the only interchange between the Kwun Tong Line and Tsuen Wan Line, so it is expected to be very busy with crowd control measures in place.

Additionally, MTR will be providing free bus service in collaboration with KMB in the Yau Ma Tei, Ho Man Tin, and Whampoa areas. Bus routes 8 and 30X will have increased frequency to every 10 minutes, and passengers on 30X will not need to pay if boarding at designated stops.

The service adjustment is part of MTR's 5-year, HK$65 billion asset renewal plan to ensure safe and reliable railway operations. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys ahead and make use of alternative routes during this temporary service suspension on the Kwun Tong Line.

此外,港鐵還將與九巴合作在油麻地、何文田和黃埔地區提供免費巴士服務。8號和30X號線的班次將增加到每10分鐘一班,乘客在指定站點上車30X線無需付費。

此次服務調整是港鐵5年800億港元資產更新計劃的一部分,旨在確保提供安全可靠的鐵路服務。乘客被建議提前規劃行程,並在觀塘線暫停服務期間利用替代路線。
