Macau burglary: Filipino domestic helper and employer loses jewelry and cash worth HK$320,000

Macau witnessed two burglary cases worth approximately HK$320,000. Local law enforcement authorities confirmed today (26th) that one of the victims was a Filipino domestic helper in her 50s.

It was suspected that 22 pieces of jewelry from her, worth approximately MOP 165,000, were stolen. Another case occurred in a unit on R. da Praia do Manduco and R. do Alm.

Sergio is in the R. do Alm area. Sergio, a female homeowner in her 30s reported a loss of HK$155,000 in cash and watches.

According to the details of the burglary case, the Filipino victim traveled to Hong Kong accompanied by his family on the night of last Tuesday (19th). She put 22 pieces of jewelry in a bag in her backpack, including platinum necklaces, gold bracelets, and diamond bracelets. She briefly left her backpack outside the stairwell before leaving the residence.

However, after leaving the unit, she discovered that the zipper of her backpack had been opened. At the time, the victim didn't pay much attention. It wasn't until she and her family checked into a hotel in Hong Kong that she discovered the bag containing the jewelry was missing, leading her to suspect it had been stolen.

Another burglary occurred at a unit in R. da Praia do Manduco and R. do Alm. The female homeowner Sergio said that at about 7:30 pm on Sunday (24th), she returned to her residence and found that the door lock had been picked open.

She suspected someone was inside the house. At the time of the incident, a man suddenly rushed out of the bedroom and fled down the stairs. After inventory, the owner found that he had lost HK$5,000 in cash and three watches, with a total value of HK$150,000.
