Two men visiting Hong Kong were caught with about US$330,000 cash by mainland Chinese customs officers after trying to cross from the Luohu border checkpoint building on Monday, authorities said.
The US dollar banknotes from the two men were hidden inside the books, pillow and bags of cake to smuggle the cash to Hong Kong, the report said.
According to the General Administration of Customs on Monday, the two men departing in a group were stopped at the Luohu border checkpoint building in recent days after an X-ray scanner detected abnormalities in their luggage.
It was said that a total of thirty-five stacks of US$100 of about US$330,000 were thereafter discovered hidden in their luggage.
