According to the latest report from the Civil Service Bureau, over 10,000 civil servants resigned from their jobs in the year 2022-2023 adding that public service broadcaster Radio Television Hong Kong happened to be the government department that has most vacancies.
The Civil Service Bureau said in its statement on Friday that the number of civil servants that leave their jobs increased from 8500 in 2018-2019 to over 10100 in 2022-2023.
The information revealed that those left included around 1,000 residents whose age were below 30, and around 3,000 who had less than a decade years of working experience.
In addition, the police force recorded 1180 people leaving the service, the highest number of resignations in the civil service. However, that was said to be a decrease from the peak of 1,802 people in the year 2019-2020.
The report stated further that, the police force had a vacancy rate of approximately 18 per cent as of last year November.
However, the vacancy rate for Radio Television Hong Kong was the highest with nearly 24 per cent, it was added.
