During the interrogation, the mother admitted that on Friday, December 8, she had swallowed three condoms containing drugs as instructed by her contact person. In addition, there was a larger oval-shaped drug capsule hidden in her vaginal cavity. The son swallowed 51 medicated condoms. The next day they flew from Peru to Spain, then to Hong Kong and finally to Macau, where they were arrested. Both men admitted that the hidden items were indeed drugs, but claimed not to know the next steps directed by their contact. The mother stated that she committed the crime to repay a debt of 20,000 Peruvian soles (approximately HK$41,200) and collect US$1,500 (approximately HK$11,700) as travel expenses for herself and her son. The son admitted assisting his mother in repaying her debt.
