Police arrested Hong Kong taxi driver for allegedly overcharging an undercover officer 5 times extra


A 32-year-old taxi driver has been arrested by the undercover police officer in an overnight operation between Friday night until the daybreak to figure out those that are inappropriate with their taxi meters.


He was caught on Hong Kong Island for allegedly overcharging an undercover officer who pretended to be a passenger boarded from Lai Kwai Fong to a place on Hong Kong Island. He charged the officer five times the actual fare, HK$150 instead of HK$27 and was arrested aftermath.


The force warned that taxi drivers convicted of overcharging are liable to a maximum penalty of HK$10,000 and six months in jail, vowing it would continue to take action to crack down on the illegal practice.


Moreover, the public was urged to file a report if they suspected there is any malpractice of overcharging by a taxi driver by recording the time and place of happening, the driver's name, vehicle number plate and the journey route.

他因涉嫌控告一名冒充從利桂坊登上前往香港島某地的乘客的臥底人員而在港島被捕。 他向警員收取實際車費五倍的費用,即港幣 150 元,而非港幣 27 元,隨後被捕。

警方警告,被判多收費的的士司機最高可被罰款港幣一萬元及監禁六個月,並表示將繼續採取行動打擊非法行為。

此外,呼籲市民如懷疑的士司機有濫收費用的行為,請記錄事件發生的時間、地點、司機姓名、車牌號碼及行程路線,舉報。
