The body of the third overseas Filipino worker (OFW) killed in an attack by Hamas militants arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Cargo Terminal on Saturday.

The remains will be transported from the cargo terminal to the OFW's province of Negros Occidental on Sunday afternoon. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) declined to reveal the names of the repatriated remains out of respect for the families of the deceased.

According to DMW Deputy Minister Bernard Olalia, the female overseas worker was a caregiver who was killed by Hamas militants. Olalia said she was considered a "modern-day hero" because she refused to leave her elderly employer during the attack.

Olalia also reiterated that government agencies helped repatriate the remains and provided support to the families.

Meanwhile, Philippine Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega said 34 OFWs have been repatriated from Israel. The latest arrivals are 18 OFWs who arrived on Friday. Another batch is expected to arrive on October 22.

De Vega confirmed that there were no Filipinos in key areas of Gaza. Their problem, however, was convincing some Filipinos to leave the besieged city.
