HONG KONG - At least 12 students suffered minor injuries after a school bus collided with a cement truck at Chinese Christian Church Kei Wan Primary School in Shau Kei Wan on Friday morning. The incident occurred at around 8:40 a.m. on Nam On Street.
It is said that the cement truck stopped at a traffic light and the following school bus failed to brake in time, resulting in a rear-end collision with the truck.
The bus driver, a man in his 40s, suffered cuts to his face and about a dozen students reported feeling unwell. After a comprehensive assessment by the police, the school bus was allowed to return to Ashun Road where a nearby school is located.
Medical staff rushed to the scene and sent the injured students, four boys and eight girls (aged between eight and nine years old), to the hospital for further examination and treatment. It is worth noting that the incident occurred on a school picnic day, and the school bus was carrying two students from Class 3 at the time of the accident.
To ensure their activities continued, the remaining students were then picked up by another school bus.
