Singaporean man allegedly spent 5 days with dead father's body in his apartment

A news report states that a man remained in his apartment with the body of his elderly father for approximately five days after the father passed away.

The discovery of the 81-year-old's body was made on Thursday morning, December 14th, inside their residence at Block 25 Hougang Ave 3. The news outlet, Shin Min Daily News, observed police officers stationed outside the unit and entering the apartment multiple times for investigation purposes.

Neighbors of the elderly man shared information with Shin Min, revealing that the man's son is autistic and estimated to be in his 30s or 40s. The neighbors expressed that the father and son had been living in the area for nearly two decades and relied on each other for support. One neighbor, a 25-year-old security guard, mentioned that she last saw the elderly man earlier in the month when his son approached her but did not speak.

Another neighbor, 71-year-old Zheng Qingliang, mentioned that he used to have conversations with the elderly man at the void deck every Sunday but hadn't seen him recently.

Zheng also mentioned that the elderly man frequently expressed concerns about his son's well-being after his own passing. The neighbors mentioned that both the father and son had diabetes, and one neighbor noticed an unpleasant odor emanating from their flat a couple of days ago.

The police confirmed that they received a report of an unnatural death and found the motionless body of an 81-year-old man in the residence. There is no suspicion of foul play based on initial investigations, and the police continue to investigate the incident.
