Hong Kong on Sunday morning found on its local water, the dead body of another finless porpoise.
Police officers arrived at the scene after the call at 7:40 a.m. concerning a buoyant animal carcass on the water, around the Central Pier and they could take it out after efforts.
The Ocean Park Conservation Foundation team arrived on the scene as well and authenticated the animal's dead body as an Indo-Pacific finless porpoise which was 1.5 metres long. It was later taken away by the team for more findings and the autopsy.
This is not the first time the carcass of the finless porpoise has been found in Hong Kong, this year. In January, it was reported that a newborn finless porpoise carcass with its tail intertwined with fishing gear was found at Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club. Also in March at Rocky Beach, a porpoise was found to have died from asphyxiation and drowning after becoming entangled.
