The world population reached a landmark of 8 billion in recent times, precisely on November 15th, 2022 as projected by the UN. In demographic, the human population is the total number of people living currently. The trend of events and living patterns have continued to impact the growth of the world population since 200,000 years of its history and prehistory. This was when the world population is less than one billion. But it takes another 219 years to develop into 8 billion. The dawn of human civilization which brings about the rise in public health, nutrition, personal hygiene, and drugs engineered this steady growth.
However, this moment is a clarion call for humanity to see beyond the numbers and meet up with every nation's responsibility to save the people and planets, especially the vulnerable ones from conflicts, global warming, mistrust and, crises.
The facts and the figures available show that it takes the world population 12 years to grow by 1 billion people. From the perspectives of developed and industrialized countries, childbirth is lagging compared to underdeveloped such as sub-Saharan where population growth increases sharply due to poverty. The world population is projected to attain a peak of roughly 10.4 billion people during the 2080s and remain at that level until 2100.
Elsewhere in Africa, the biggest surge will be in Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Egypt. In Asia outside China and India, the highest growth will happen in Pakistan; and the Philippines.
