On January 6, 2025, a shooting attack near the settlement of Kedumim in the Israeli-occupied West Bank resulted in the deaths of three Israelis and left several others injured. This incident occurs during a sensitive diplomatic period aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Gaza and securing the release of Israeli hostages. Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a resident of the settlement, called for an urgent cabinet meeting to discuss a new strategy to combat terrorism.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to bring those responsible for the attack to justice. In contrast, the militant group Hamas praised the attack, framing it as a response to what they described as the "occupation's continued crimes" in Gaza.

According to Israel's national ambulance service, Magen David Adom, the victims included two women in their sixties and a man in his forties, all of whom died at the scene. Additionally, eight passengers were injured, including a 63-year-old bus driver who is in serious condition.

In response to the attack, the Israeli military has established a cordon around the surrounding villages to search for the suspects.
