On November 15, 2024, it was reported that Tropical Cyclone Man-yi is expected to approach within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong between Sunday night and early Monday. Currently classified as a strong typhoon, Man-yi may upgrade to a super typhoon as it moves closer to the southern Chinese coastline.

In conjunction with this, a strong northeast monsoon is anticipated to hit the southern coast of China on Sunday, prompting the Hong Kong Observatory to consider issuing a Strong Monsoon Signal. Residents can expect increasingly strong winds on Monday and Tuesday, with the Observatory likely to issue a Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal during this timeframe.

Additionally, early next week will see a spring tide that could elevate sea levels by approximately 0.3 meters during high tide, raising the risk of minor flooding in low-lying areas. The highest water levels are forecasted to occur near midnight on Monday, and Tolo Harbour, which is prone to flooding during severe weather, is expected to be particularly affected.

Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety, urging residents to take necessary precautions and remain vigilant regarding flooding warnings. As temperatures are forecasted to drop below 19 degrees Celsius, rain patches may also occur midweek, contributing to the changing weather conditions.
