Hong Kong extends the rule of face masks to 8th of March 2023

Hong kong health authorities announced yesterday the extension of the mask rule till March 8, 2023. The Chief Executive, John Lee - Chiu earlier said that the government would consider lifting the mask rule after the winter flu season.

The City remains one of the few places in the world to retain facial covering against the spread of Coronavirus since 3 years ago. The facial covering rule is only effective indoors, in mainland China.

Leung Chi- Chiu, a respiratory medicine specialist advised against the lifting of the rule now, pointing out the high risk of influenza during the winter season.

The rule is applied to public areas and public transport with a straight-away fine of HK$5000 to any offender.
