A report has emerged regarding the discovery of a deceased Filipina domestic helper who had been reported missing since Friday. The incident occurred on Sunday, January 14, inside a flat located on Woosung Street in Yau Ma Tei.
According to the police, there are currently no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. However, the exact cause of death will only be determined following an autopsy.
Authorities have stated that a 39-year-old Filipina, identified by her initials L.A.M., was found lifeless by a Chinese cleaning lady who had been given access to the flat by the male tenant, who happened to be out of town at the time.
The discovery prompted the 61-year-old woman to notify the police at 3:31 PM on that day. Ambulancemen who arrived in response to the call declared the victim deceased at the scene.
The police spokesperson expressed a lack of information regarding why the Filipina, whose employer resides in Mid-Levels, was present in the Yau Ma Tei flat during the incident.
In the meantime, the employer reached out to the Migrant Workers Office of the Philippine Consulate to report the death on Wednesday. The employer claimed that the Filipina had been unwell.
A friend of the deceased Filipina initially contacted The SUN for assistance on Tuesday and confirmed the employer's statement about her illness. However, no specific details regarding the nature of her illness were provided.
At the time of the friend's outreach, the deceased had been missing for five days, and even the employer was uncertain of her whereabouts.
