A Hong Kong police officer with a head gunshot wound was suspected to have taken his own life on Sunday afternoon at a marine unit regional headquarters on Sunday, SCMP reported.
This afternoon, a 51-year-old police officer was found injured inside a changing room at the marine police regional headquarters at Sai Wan Ho situated in the east of Hong Kong Island, the Hong Kong police spokesperson said.
The report said the deceased officer was a senior constable with around 30 years of experience in service.
The spokesman said: “A service pistol was found next to the deceased.”
Adding that upon initial investigation, it was believed that the officer killed himself with the gun.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.
The Hong Kong Island Regional Crime Unit is in charge of the inquiry as the conditions connected to his death are still under investigation.
