According to the Manila local news, Super Typhoon Saola has left at least one person dead and displaced 387,242 people across the country after triggering landslides and floods in the country, the Philippines government said on Friday.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in the Philippines has said that over 21,000 are presently in temporary shelters.
Saola increased into a super typhoon last Sunday, heavy rain and severe winds in the main Luzon island and central Philippines.
Rains keep pouring in the Philippines despite the departure of Saola this week with many places experiencing flood including Metro Manila.
The weather bureau in the Philippines said, severe tropical storm Haikui, which increased into a typhoon on Friday, is enhancing the southwest monsoon and threatening to dump more rain over the weekend.
The bureau last spotted Haikui 785 km northeast of Batanes province, blowing westward at 20 km per hour, packing 120 km per hour winds and gusts of up to 150 km per hour.
Haikui is the eighth typhoon to lash the archipelago country in 2023. The bureau said further that another severe tropical storm is also approaching.
